Montreal - Louiseville - Sainte-Anne-de-la-Perade

An ode to trailer parks.

Oh trailer parks, the farther east we go, the more we realize how much we love you. With your kooky inhabitants and decor, the friendly way you try to communicate with us in frenglish, your low low rates and unique vistas, we have come to realize there is no better place to ditch our bikes and pitch our tent.

But seriously. These trailer parks have everything! Showers, clean bathrooms, cheap and dry firewood, game rooms and pools. Plus we're always looking out on the Saint Lawrence. In other words, pure luxury.

After our lovely stay in Montreal, and then spending over an hour trying to leave the city, we were relieved to see our beloved one lane roads, bordered by corn fields, once again. Montreal was awesome because the streets are so bike friendly (curbed in bike lanes!), but we were happy to be in the country again. It's here we really hit our stride and can put 30km behind us in what sometimes feels like a blink of an eye.

When we arrived in Louiseville, it looked more like a resort from the Dominican than a trailer park. Coconut and tube light decor, peach paint on the walls, and a sign that said "welcome cyclists!" The boss lady lent us an axe to chop the firewood, but was quick to take it back, saying she was too scared we would chop off a toe. In lieu of taking offense, we just figured she was a mother and is a proud member of The Worry Club.

After an easy day of 80km, we turned down a private bumpy gravel road and happened upon another trailer park, this time with year round inhabitants and a charming male owner who was quick to compliment our rudimentary French. Our site comes with a fridge, a plug, a croquet set, a romantic swinging love seat, and a horseshoe course. And of course, a view of the river. All for $28!!! We feel like queens.

Photos!
1) A Hitchcock-esque field of seagulls. Verrrrry creepy sounding.
2) Gill relaxing with the paper? Nope, just stuffing her face beside the kindling.
3) Our view of the marina on the river.
4) On our way to Sainte-Anne, Gill sports her new blue dress shirt. Looking good!
5) Two of the three rivers of Trois-Rivieres.
6) And here comes the montage of us really taking advantage of our site here in Sainte-Anne. First, sleeping mat yoga.
7) The swing!
8) Horseshoes!
9) And of course, croquet.

10) Oh that? That's our newest dinner invention: Double guac-dogs on a bagel bun.
